Daniel Day-Lewis and Jonny Greenwood lead the British contingent as THERE WILL BE BLOOD scoops nine BAFTA nominations
Paul Thomas Anderson's THERE WILL BE BLOOD scooped nine BAFTA nominations this morning, including two notable British nominations:
Oscar-winner Daniel Day-Lewis is nominated for his fifth BAFTA for Best Leading Actor (he won previously for Gangs of New York in 2003 and My Left Foot in 1990), for his powerhouse performance as self-made oil tycoon Daniel Plainview
Jonny Greenwood of Radiohead has been nominated for his innovative, resonant score in the category of Music. THERE WILL BE BLOOD marks Greenwood's second complete soundtrack as composer, and reflects his work as composer-in-residence with the BBC Concert Orchestra.
Upon learning of his nomination, Daniel Day-Lewis said: "In a year of such fine performances, it is a lovely thing to be included amongst them. And, in a year of exceptional films, that ours has been so fully recognised is the best news of all."
